First impressions in 30 seconds.

30 second elevator pitch – written by Edward E. Cambas It is important in some cases to sell yourself in a very short time span before you lose your targets attention. Most people are already so pre-occupied with whatever they are doing that you will have a limited window of opportunity to present yourself or your product/service. You might wish to use the words “specialize” or “specialist”, which primarily states that you are an expert and that is probably the only person they might even wish to give the time of day to. I think it is important to be very natural and not over-exuberant in your approach. That really hyped up over-zealous attitude is a real turn off. Just be yourself, and be kind and confident. It is not a good idea to be too over-confident, that is not well taken by most people of importance and influence. It is very important that you review the company brochures and information to find out exactly what they do, how and what purpose their product or service is most helpful for. Most people recognize that they have a product or service that has a helpful solution to some sort of problem, desire, or need. First-hand knowledge and appreciation of that solution is going to be very helpful in gaining attention. You have to do your homework and mainly just memorize bullet points. An example is my recent interview and pitch process with T-mobile where I commented on their most pressing issues. The first was competing with Apple products primarily the I-Phone, and the second was the fact that locking into a two year contract was causing the company to slip in its market share. The next step is to practice your pitch or presentation several times and to have a bullet sheet of important facts with you at the time you are delivering it. It is super important to be very calm and confident. Do not move around adjusting your shirt, hands or trousers too much. It is not good to have some odd movements which shows you are uncomfortable. You can do it.
