Aventura Mall. A lesson in people skills.
I got the chance to experiment today with dealing with people. The Aventura area of Miami is located to the northeast corridor of Dade County. This area is known for a lot of Jewish families, wealth, and fine autos. It seems like a really great area complete with all of your grocery store conveniences, plenty of book stores and eateries, along with the mall as the central destination.
The mall is really nice, and the first thing that everybody does as they enter is go to get their free Tea at Teavana. The ladies are there to mop up the mess, complete with mustache.... like the school lunch ladies. I always have to walk around the yellow caution signs to keep you from slipping on the freshly spilled tea blends. Passing through the food court can present somewhat of a problem because you have to maneuver around the older slow people. Have you ever notice that some people just do not want to get out of your way.
Anyhow, I was working at the Kiosk tonight selling Judaica. We have a unique product that was created in France, the letters of the alephbet. Since we have a large Jewish population, these items are fairly popular.
Our letters each have a unique meaning, which is specified in the spirit of Kaballah. For example, the first letter Aleph, based on the first letter of the first name, means; a leader, a teacher, and a person with energy. I put my money where my mouth is and wear the Aleph in the spirit of my sales.
I really enjoyed working with these folks tonight. I felt a great sense of self, it really feels good to be working. The economy feels like it may be making a slight move forward. The people that I talked to and sold today seemed like they were relatively happy. It seems like some people are not sensing the recession at all. I really hope that the economy comes around.
